What is CABIN?
CABIN is a private place to keep track of meaningful recommendations. Films, TV shows, books, and podcasts that mattered enough to remember. Nothing is public by default. Nothing is algorithmically pushed. It’s a personal archive shaped by taste and trust.
Why does CABIN exist?
Most platforms optimize for attention and volume. CABIN does the opposite. It exists to help you remember well, not consume endlessly. What you save is intentional. What stays is what resonated.
How is CABIN different from Letterboxd, Goodreads, or similar apps?
Those apps are built around reviews, rankings, feeds, and public performance. CABIN is not. There are no followers, no likes, no trending lists, and no pressure to share. It’s closer to a private notebook than a social network.
Is CABIN social?
Yes, but quietly.
You can add friends, send recommendations directly, and see what they’ve recently completed. That’s it. No feeds. No metrics. No audience.
Who can recommend things to me?
Only people you’ve explicitly accepted as friends. Every recommendation is deliberate. Nothing arrives unless you choose to receive it.
What kinds of things can I save?
Right now you can save movies, TV shows, books, and podcasts. New formats are considered carefully. If something doesn’t encourage depth, reflection, or learning, it doesn’t belong.
Can I add notes or ratings?
Yes. When you mark something as in progress or completed, you can add a star rating and a private note. These are for memory, not validation.
Can I organize my collection?
Yes. You can create custom lists and decide whether they’re private or visible to friends. The structure is yours.
Does CABIN recommend things to me?
No. There is no algorithm deciding what you should watch, read, or listen to next. Your taste is shaped by people you trust and time spent with the work itself.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your library is private by default. CABIN does not sell your data, track you for ads, or optimize for engagement at your expense.
Can I export my data?
Yes. You can export your entire library as a CSV file at any time from Settings.
Is CABIN free?
CABIN offers a free tier. Any paid features, now or in the future, are designed to support longevity and craftsmanship, not addiction or dark patterns.
How do I get help or send feedback?
Email us at support@cabinlist.com. Thoughtful feedback is read carefully.
Why the name CABIN?
In Chinese culture, 收藏 means more than collecting. It means keeping only what truly matters. CABIN is built around that idea. A quiet place for the things that stayed with you. Over time, it becomes a record of how you think, what moved you, and who you trust.
